Abstract

This paper deals with the process of social identity formation in Rio de Janeiro during the 1920s. Special attention is given to the questions of gender, race, class and sexuality, as well as to the city self-image. This paper is based in the reading of the most popular play of that period: Aguenta, Felipe!
